OVERVIEW                                                                                                                  

The application development team within the Maine Office of Information Technology is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in Java, Java Server Pages, Spring Framework, Tomcat, Oracle, and Red Hat Linux. 

 

The selected candidate will have an opportunity to work with our team supporting the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Agency.

The successful candidate will work with the team responsible for bringing that application to more and more sportsmen every year.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Your job as a senior developer will be to work within the team responsible for continuing to make Maine’s outdoor sporting activities available to the public. You will use your skills as a JAVA developer to help modernize the MOSES application while continuing to expand its ability to serve the public and public agents. You will work closely with your peer developers and the IF&W Agency to provide timely support and innovative solutions to a wide variety of business needs.

 

WHAT WE EXPECT?

Applicants must be comfortable working directly with the end-users.  Successful candidates will be expected to capture business requirements related to assigned projects and translate them into technical solutions in a timely manner with limited supervision. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify, you must have four (4) years of computer programming experience utilizing higher level languages including two (2) years at the Programmer Analyst level or equivalent -OR- a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences including two (2) years at the Programmer Analyst level or equivalent.  A Masters’ Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for one (1) year of programming experience.   

 

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in any of the following: PL/SQL, Perl, Oracle, FTP Tools, Jasper Reports, Spring Framework, Struts, ANT, XML, SOAP, Tomcat, Red Hat integration and Web Services.

SALARY:   CLASS CODE: 0866                PAY GRADE: 27 – $55,326.96 - $75,108.80 annually*

*Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary adjustment and eligibility for a 5% annual training bonus.

 

BENEFITS:

The bi-weekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits for full-time employees include: $14.60 for dental insurance; 14.11% of employee’s pay towards retirement; and, depending on the employee’s annual pay, at least 85% ($400.34) of health insurance premiums (more information is available here). Participation in the Health Premium Credit Program can increase state-paid health insurance benefits by 5%.
