The Director of Collaboration Technologies is a new role within the Office of Information Technology responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and operational oversight for collaboration technologies. Technologies such as audio and video conferencing, email, instant messaging, content management and dissemination, discussion forums, knowledge portals, business directories, data conferencing, and supporting audio-video events all facilitate information sharing, communication, and coordination.


Reporting to the Executive Director for Client & Infrastructure Services, the Director of Collaboration Technologies will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, roadmap, support, and training for MaineIT collaborative technologies and be accountable for the tactical and strategic execution and implementation across the collaborative technology portfolio.


The Director is a leader capable of implementing organizational change, specifically in the areas of improving culture, services, and process.  The Director leads the development and implementation of relevant collaboration technologies that can unleash productivity and deliver a holistic engagement experience.



A ten-year combination of experience, education, and training in architecture, design, and implementation of state-of-the-art collaboration solutions.


Specific qualifications include:

  • Advanced knowledge of collaboration and digital media technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of video conferencing equipment and system design.
  • Experience with Office 365, GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Cisco collaboration technologies and/or related technologies.
  • Experience with design and construction of collaborative technology spaces.
  • Proven ability to drive transformational initiatives to assist with modernization of the collaboration / productivity infrastructure.
  • Skilled in financial management with knowledge of budget and contract management.
  • Strong oral and written communication / presentation skills with the ability to tailor communication and interaction across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work well with partner organizations.
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix style environment.

  • Level 1:  100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing):  $461.75 biweekly
  • Level 2:  95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%):  $438.66 biweekly
  • Level 3:  90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%):  $415.58 biweekly
  • Level 4:  85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):  $392.49 biweekly


*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status regarding the health credit premium program.
