ABOUT THE POSITION:                     

The Systems Section Manager will be responsible for providing direction to and overseeing the application teams. The teams support multiple State Departments including The Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Marine Resources, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, and Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. The position will report to the Applications Director and will work in the Augusta office.

REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:

  • Work with a team of peers to find solutions to common problems shared across multiple agencies.

 

  • Develop team leaders into effective managers who oversee staff performance and productivity levels and meet business needs.

 

  • Gather and assimilate information on business value delivery, return on investments (ROI), and metrics in order to identify process improvement and to improve business relationships and achieve successful outcomes.

 

  • Effectively lead a diverse group of managers in order to build a highly functional team.

 

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Leadership, team management, and mentoring abilities related to application development teams and the implementation of technology projects with successful outcomes and satisfied customers.
  • Consensus and collaboration abilities to solve problems or reach mutual decisions to support end results.
  • Ability to effectively use communication and articulate a thorough understanding of the application development processes.

 

  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities and workflow with little oversight.

 

  • Ability to quickly assess new situations (crises, new projects), lead team efforts, and communicate well at all levels will be expected.

 

  • Ability to partner with others and leverage the strength of team members to make sound business/technical decisions is critical in this role.

 

  • The successful candidate will have prior leadership experience at leading teams and ideally at a senior level.

 

  • The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success leading teams in projects or programs.  

 

  • A respect for core team values and a high work ethic that will set the pace for team excellence is a must.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

Ten (10) years of progressive experience in Information Technology including at least six (6) years of experience in the area of applications and two (2) years of supervisory/ managerial experience.

 

 

SALARY:   Job Class Code:  0385                    Pay Grade: 31 – $64,979.20 - $89,356.80 annually

*Includes a 10% recruitment and retention salary.

 

BENEFITS:

The value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement:  14.47% of salary for BU positions.  The value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $14.31 biweekly.  The value* of State-paid Health Insurance:

  • Level 1: 100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing):  $461.75 biweekly
  • Level 2: 95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%):  $438.66 biweekly
  • Level 3: 90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%):  $415.58 biweekly
  • Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):  $392.49 biweekly

*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
