The Office of Information Technology’s Radio Operations is seeking an Information System Support Specialist II to work primarily in the Field Services Section with a focus on Bench Tech. duties along with Joining us in maintaining our high standards in our MSCommNet System operations. The Radio Services Team supports several State of Maine Agencies with P25 Digital trunked two-way radio communications. You will work with a dynamic team of highly talented staff providing support for all daily operations. Work may involve frequent communications with the agencies, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment is critical to this role.


ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:                                                                                                           


Information System Support Specialist II is responsible for advanced technical services in daily operations, maintenance, troubleshooting of communications issues. Work is performed under limited supervision.




You will have an opportunity to participate in all phases of support, maintenance and troubleshooting of communications and technology issues for Public Safety agencies.  You will be exposed to several different platforms, facing different challenges every day.   This position is in Augusta but does require some statewide travel in support of the MSCommNet system.




You will be a member of a team providing support for several State of Maine agencies, including Department of Public Safety, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Department of Marine Resources, Department of Conservation, Department of Corrections, and Department of Transportation to mention a few.   You will be conducting analysis and working collaboratively in resolving issues within these agencies, facilitating projects and more.


Preference will be given to individuals with experience in public safety communications systems, digital radio and dispatch systems. Experience with two-way communications test equipment will also be considered.




A minimum of 3 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience.  Related training, internship experience etc. may be credited as related experience on a month-per-month basis.



JOB CLASS CODE: 0931  POSITION: 004200464 PAY GRADE: 23 - ($46,883.20 - $63,459.76/yr.)*

*Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary adjustment and eligibility for a 5% annual training bonus



The value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement:  14.11% of salary for BU positions.  The value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $14.60 biweekly.  The value* of State-paid Health Insurance:


  • Level 1: 100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing):   $470.99 biweekly
  • Level 2: 95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%):             $447.44 biweekly
  • Level 3: 90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%):           $423.89 biweekly
  • Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):           $400.34 biweekly


*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
