OVERVIEW:

The Office of Information Technology’s Radio Operations is seeking a highly motivated Information System Support Specialist II to join us in maintaining our high standards in our MSCommNet System operations. The Radio Services Team supports several State of Maine Agencies with P25 Digital trunked Two-Way radio communications, Public Safety Vehicle upfits and many other tasks. You will work with a dynamic team of highly talented staff providing support for all daily operations. Work may involve frequent communications with The Agencies, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment is critical to this role.

 

ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:                                                                                         

Information System Support Specialist II is responsible for Advanced Technical Services in daily operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of Communications issues. Work is performed under limited supervision.

 

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

You will have an opportunity to participate in all phases of support, maintenance and troubleshooting of communications and technology issues for Public Safety agencies.  You will be exposed to several different platforms, facing different challenges every day.   This position is stationed in Augusta, but  other locations and work options may exist. This position does require some statewide travel in support of the MSCommNet system.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO? 

You will be a member of a team providing support for several State of Maine agencies, including Department of Public Safety, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Department of Marine Resources, Department of Conservation, Department of Corrections and the Department of Transportation to mention a few.   You will be conducting analysis and working collaboratively in resolving issues within these Agencies, facilitating projects and more.

 

Preference will be given to individuals with experience in public safety communications systems, Digital radio and dispatch systems. Experience with Two-Way communications & testing equipment will also be considered.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 3 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience.  Related training, internship experience etc. may be credited as related experience on a month-per-month basis. 

 

*Special preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:

Performing system administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment -OR- an Associate’s Degree -OR- a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in computer information systems or directly related field.

JOB CLASS CODE: 0931 POSITION: 033003311 PAY GRADE: 23 - ($48,942.40 - $65,998.40/yr.)*

   *Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary adjustment and eligibility for a 5% annual training bonus
